WATERING

You can let the potting soil dry out. This is roughly equivalent to watering once a week.

We recommend adding liquid fertilizer once or twice a month.

CALATHEA MAJESTICA CLEANING AND PRUNING

Misting your Calathea regularly is a preventive action against insects and spiders that could attack it. It also removes dust from the foliage, and thus promotes photosynthesis.

You should also prune the damaged leaves by cutting them at their base.

REPOTING, CUTTINGS, DIVISION OF CALATHEA

Indoor Plant Soil is perfect for all Calathea, although you can always aerate it by adding a little perlite or coconut fiber. To repot your plant you must take it out of its old pot and remove the old soil, limiting the damage of roots as much as possible. Then you have to cover the bottom of the new pot, a little larger than the old one, with pozzolan or clay balls, one or two centimeters of potting soil and place your plant. Fill with your soil to the surface of the pot and water.

If you don't have a pot big enough that your plant needs repotting, you can divide it by simply separating the plants and rhizomes , the small bulbs from which the roots come out. By the way, rhizomatic plants don't multiply by cuttings, too bad!

FREQUENT PROBLEMS

• Yellow leaves.

If you haven't forgotten to water your plant, and the soil isn't completely dry, your plant has been overwatered. Space out your waterings and remember not to let the bottom of the pot soak in water.

• The leaves curl up or turn brown.

Your plant is thirsty! Water it slowly or bath it for about ten minutes, or until the leaves become smooth again.
